Club Meeting! 7pm 8 April

The last meeting of the spring 2008 semester will be Tuesday 8 April 2008 at 7pm at the club radio room, room 736 of the Science & Engineering building.

This is an important meeting. We really need all members to be present for this meeting. Anyone who is at all interested our curious is welcome too! You don't need a ham radio license to come to the meeting!

Agenda

  • Review activities from College Satellite Night
  • Plan for Fayetteville SpringFest
  • Plan Dead Day party study break and sample cuisine (yes, that means food!)
  • Plan for ARRL Field Day this summer
  • Discuss ways to increase membership, plan for next year
  • Demonstration of antenna modeling with a 1.2GHz helix antenna
  • Survey of ham radio topics for new hams and anyone else who's interested

Comments

Is it possible for someone to post the antenna modeling demo (or a link to it)? I'd like to see it.

Thanks!

The antenna is modeled using NEC2. The wrapper application and 3d renderer I used is 4nec2, which is reasonably easy to use. The antenna structure is generated using python. I can provide the antenna model used, or the script used to generate the antenna. The 4nec2 program comes with several antenna structures ready for use as well.

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to see the script you used as well. 4nec2 looks like a good program, but I don't readily have a windows box handy. I might replicate your antenna in CocoaNEC and see if I get the same results.

tnx es 73,
